A Week in the Windy City
My Neocon 2013 began with an amazing Architectural River Boat Cruise of Chicago hosted by RGO and Steelcase. Chicago is an awsome city, richly populated by fantastic architecture. (and jazz…and blues…and theatre…and food…and shopping!) We found a really great tapas restaurant called the Mercat. One problem… no other tapas will ever compare. It has ruined all other tapas forever!
The buzz at the Merchandise Mart kept me in awe for three full days. Imagine five or more floors two blocks long and a block and a half wide full of fantastic showrooms and interiors related product! It amounts to some serious sensory overload. Keynote speakers were super inspiring from the founder of BIG, Bjarke Ingels, to Lauren Rottet president and founding principal at Rottet Studio.
All things textured and with a quilted look were apparent in many of the showrooms at the mart. The color of the year? Emerald Green.
