Getting LEED® Hacked

Getting LEED® Hacked

The Alberta Green Building Hack-a-thon (#gbhack) held in Calgary on November 2nd was a fast paced, eight hour look at residential designs and how LEED® can be incorporated into the designs. 35 people were broken up into 4 groups to review the 4 projects provided. Each team had to go through 8 LEED® credits to review the likelihood that the project could attain the credit or if recommendations could be provided to revise the design to be able to capture the credit. I found the process to be quite successful to learn how to incorporate credits into a design as well as to share possibilities with developers, architects, and owners. This was way more interesting than sitting in a room watching slides go by. I had a great time and would recommend this to any person wanting to learn more about LEED® or even to those who just need to get maintenance hours for their pre-existing accreditation. – Trish
