The Regional Municipality's South Policing facility provides a home base for RCMP and Provincial Sheriffs to conduct policing activities on the South side of the Athabasca River and will compliment the recently completed Policing Headquarters building in the subdivision of Timberlea. A 26 cell block incorporated the security requirements and standards demanded by the RCMP. The project achieved LEED certification by utilizing green construction materials and systems and was consistent with RCMP SD2000.
