Eagle Builders Centre Arena Expansion and Library/Junior A Addition is an iconic design solution that solidifies the Town of Blackfalds and the region of Lacombe County and Central Alberta as a major recreational hub for its residents and catchment area.
The new addition of the 1300-seat bowl facility with loge seating and 12,000 sf Library will complement the existing 300-seat 85 x 200 ice surface.
This project is a result of multiple stakeholder engagement sessions starting with the Town of Blackfalds Recreation Master Plan and the subsequent Feasibility Study involving:
The project charter set out to create a second ice surface as required by the master plan analysis and then further complemented by the various stakeholders to be a world class facility for AJHL Junior A Teams, customer experience (loge seating), and the community experience.
Further to the ice surface the Town completed the concept, adding the new Town of Blackfalds Regional Library of 12,000 sf as an additional focal point, creating a true Community Centre in the heart of Blackfalds.
