ACI was hired in February of 2021 to design and construct with PCL Construction 195 beds for a response to the Covid-19. We used the shelled space of the 6th floor Edmonton Kaye Clinic.

While we had very little time to design and complete working drawings for this project, we came up with design strategies to work out bed pods. ACI was continuously consulting with PCL to find immediately available products that met Infection Control Measures while being able to be constructed very quickly. Some products were to source hand hygiene sinks, medical grade adjustable lighting that were in stock.

During the design we had met with multiple stakeholders to incorporate all of their items and address their concerns. Some of the departments were the following: Environmental Services, Linen, Waste Management, Health Information Management, Workers Health and Safety, Security, Infection Prevention Control, Foods, Furnishings and Equipment, and Facilities.
